Protest in Germany Marks Human Rights Day, Calls for Balochistan’s Freedom

HANNOVER, GERMANY: On December 10, Human Rights Day, the Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) Germany branch held a protest in front of Hannover’s main station to spotlight the ongoing crisis in Balochistan and demand freedom from illegal occupation.

The protest coincided with the anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

Hundreds of pamphlets were distributed in German to raise awareness among the public about the dire situation in Balochistan. Speakers at the rally included Ashfaq Baloch, Khudadad Baloch, Beebagr Baloch, and Mumtaz Baloch with Naveed Baloch moderating the event.

The protestors voiced their concerns about the decades-long inhumane treatment of the Baloch people, who continue to fight for their freedom and sovereignty. “The Baloch are struggling against systematic oppression and violence,” speakers highlighted.

The speakers also emphasised that the Baloch people have been subjected to inhumane treatment for many decades in their fight for freedom. “The ongoing Baloch struggle and the continuous protests by the families of missing persons are symbols of courage and resistance against organised oppression and violence,” the speakers added.

Beebagr Baloch said that FBM’s stance was clear on freedom for both Pakistani-occupied and Iranian-occupied Balochistan. The FBM charted comprehensive roadmaps for Balochistan’s independence, which includes the Balochistan Liberation Charter and a proposed Democratic Transitional Plan for Iran.

The speakers also called for international human rights organisations, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the UN Human Rights Council, to document and raise awareness about the ongoing violations in Balochistan.

They stressed that extensive reports from these organisations could serve as a foundation for global advocacy and action to put pressure on Pakistan and Iran to address the human rights abuses.
