Balochistan: Protest Camp Against Enforced Disappearances Completes 5,677 Days

QUETTA: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) protest camp in Quetta has reached a significant milestone, completing 5,677 days of continuous peaceful demonstrations. The camp has now entered its 15th year of protesting against enforced disappearances and custodial killings in Balochistan.

On Monday, political and social activists, including Zaheer Ahmed, Riaz Ahmed, Salahuddin, Hammal Baloch, and Muhammad Hassan, visited the camp to express solidarity with the families of Baloch missing persons.

Mama Qadeer Baloch, Vice Chairman of VBMP, briefed the visitors on the alarming human rights violations in Balochistan. He accused the state [Pakistan] of systematically targeting Baloch communities through enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and forced displacement under the guise of maintaining law and order.

He also criticised the continued silence of international human rights organisations on the issue, highlighting the lack of global attention to the plight of the Baloch people. Despite these challenges, Mama Qadeer reaffirmed the VBMP’s commitment to seeking justice, vowing to raise the issue on international platforms until their demands are met.
