BLA Claims Responsibility for Deadly Bomb Attacks on Coast Guard in Gwadar
QUETTA: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for two bomb attacks on the Pakistan Coast Guard in Jiwani, a coastal city in Gwadar Balochistan, which resulted in the deaths of four personnel and injuries to five others.
According to a statement issued by the BLA, the first attack occurred on December 29 at around 1:00 PM in the Ganz area, where BLA fighters targeted Coast Guard personnel stationed along the shore. The attack killed two personnel instantly, while a third critically injured individual later succumbed to his injuries during transport to the hospital.
In a follow-up attack, a convoy of four Coast Guard vehicles, en route from the Bandhari headquarters to Ganz to retrieve the injured and deceased from the earlier strike, was targeted again. This second attack took place at Panwan Laando Zugar, where one more Coast Guard personnel was killed, and five others were injured.
The BLA spokesperson, Azad Baloch, further stated that these attacks were a response to the support provided by certain local business figures and so-called dignitaries in Jiwani to the Coast Guard.
According to BLA, these individuals were facilitating the Coast Guard’s operations by providing vehicles, water, and rations for patrols. The BLA warned such individuals to cease their support of the occupying forces, calling it an act of betrayal.
The statement emphasised that the BLA, as the “national army” of Balochistan, reserves the right to take all necessary actions against anyone assisting the Coast Guard or other occupying forces.
Meanwhile sources reported that the Pakistani Coast Guard stationed in the coastal city of Gwadar has cancelled all types of duties along the coastline.
The cancellation of duties comes after continuous attacks by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in Gwadar, Jiwani, Panwan, Pishkan, Ganz, Pasni, and other coastal areas, resulting in the cancellation of all Coast Guard duties in these regions.
