Balochistan: 5 Released, 4 Presented in Court, Protests Continue as 3 Remain Missing

Four More Forcibly Disappeared from Kohlu

QUETTA – The enforced disappearance of 12 Baloch youths in the Zhari tehsil of Khuzdar district sparked widespread protests, with families demanding the immediate release of their loved ones.

Following the initial protests, negotiations between demonstrators and authorities resulted in the release of 5 detained individuals. However, the release of some has not quelled the anger of the families, as 3 individuals remain missing.

Among the disappeared individuals, 4 have been presented in court, but their families remain steadfast in their demands for the recovery of the remaining 3.

The families of those still missing continue a sit-in protest near Saurab, urging authorities to immediately release all the disappeared individuals.

The protesters have made it clear that they will continue their demonstrations until all their loved ones are returned.

Separately, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), alongside local residents, organised a rally in Zehri condemning the enforced disappearances.

The rally participants criticised the ongoing human rights violations in the region and demanded that the government and state institutions put an end to such practices.

“Enforced disappearances have become a routine violation of human rights in Balochistan,” said the rally organizers. “These actions not only cause immense suffering for the affected families but also create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity across the region.”

The protesters have urged the government to stop the ongoing human rights violations and ensure the safe return of the disappeared individuals.

Despite the release of some, the families of the disappeared are determined to continue their struggle until all their loved ones are released.

In a similar incident, Pakistani forces have forcibly disappeared four men from Kohlu Balochistan.

According to details,  the Pakistani forces called Balach Loharani to their camp under the pretext of discussing the recovery of his sons, only to abduct him as well.

It is noteworthy that two sons of Balach Loharani were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces two months ago.

Additionally, three days ago, Yar Khan Jalamabani was taken from his home and forcibly disappeared.

On the same day, Koday son of Meshdar Loharani, and Jumma Shahejo were also detained from a roadside location and have since been subjected to enforced disappearance.
