Balochistan: Families of Zahedan Massacre Martyrs Call for Solidarity and Justice

DOZZAAP (ZAHEDAN): The families of the martyrs of the bloody massacre in Zahedan have urged the Baloch nation to stand in solidarity with them and ensure that the blood of their fallen loved ones does not go in vain.

In a powerful message shared by the families, they expressed their deep sorrow and ongoing grief following the tragic events of “Bloody Friday” in Zahedan in September 2022. The families described the emotional and physical wounds that have lingered since the massacre, which claimed the lives of hundreds of Baloch and have left a deep scar on their hearts. Despite the passage of time, they emphasised the pain has not faded, and no amount of forgetting can heal the wounds inflicted upon them.

Many of the victims came from the impoverished and marginalised communities of Balochistan, and their families are now grappling with not only the loss of their loved ones but also severe financial and social hardships. Some families, the statement explained, do not have the resources to provide medical treatment for the injured, and others are struggling to survive without a breadwinner.

In particular, the families highlighted the plight of children who have been orphaned, women who have become widows, and households that have seen their pillars collapse. However, they made it clear that despite these immense challenges, their honour and dignity remain intact.

The families also condemned certain government figures and clerics, who, instead of standing in solidarity with the Baloch people, have sided with the ruling regime. The families accused these individuals of betraying the martyrs by forgetting their sacrifice and extending support to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.

“We will never accept this betrayal,” the statement reads. “We will never allow the blood of our children to be traded.”

In their call to action, the families appealed to the Baloch nation to support them in their fight for justice. They urged their fellow citizens to extend a helping hand to the families of the martyrs and the wounded, and not to forget the oppressed. They also called for an end to the silence surrounding the atrocities committed against the Baloch people.

“We must unite and amplify our voices,” the families declared. “Our unity and solidarity can make our cries for justice louder and more powerful.”

As a way to honour the martyrs, the families urged the people of Balochistan to display the pictures of Khodanour and other martyrs on their homes, remembering the sacrifice and struggles of their fallen loved ones.

They stressed that the demand for justice is not just a cry, but a necessary action that will unsettle the oppressors and ensure that the martyrs’ blood is not forgotten.

“Standing against tyranny is a mission that rests on all of our shoulders,” the families concluded. “Our children are your martyrs; do not let their pure blood go in vain.”
