Balochistan: Woman Shares Heart-Wrenching Account of Family’s Ordeal at Hands of Pakistani Forces
QUETTA: In a press conference held at the Turbat Press Club, Anisa daughter of Muhammad Bakhsh, wife of Asim, a resident of Tump, Konshkalat, revealed the traumatic experiences her family has faced at the hands of Pakistani state forces and agencies.
Anisa recounted the constant surveillance and harassment she and her family have endured since the enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killing of her husband, Asim. Describing the living situation as “hell,” she stated that her house has been under attack, her family has been subjected to mental torture, and their homes have been repeatedly looted and set on fire.
“We’re not alone in this suffering,” Anisa emphasised. “Hardly any house in Balochistan is safe from state brutality. Enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, military operations, and aggression have become a daily routine.” She shared that their homes in Konshkalat were looted twice, and their family members’ houses in other areas have also been targeted.
The latest attack on their homes last night has left the family shaken, with hand grenades being thrown inside their home, causing damage and fear. Anisa appealed to the relevant authorities to put an end to the unjust treatment of her family and others in Balochistan and urges the Baloch nation to raise their voices against this brutality and support her and her family.
Leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) joined Anisa in condemning the state’s actions and expressing solidarity with the family’s ordeal. They called for an end to the oppression and brutality and demanded justice for the victims of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
