Balochistan: Son and Relative of Sachan School Director Go Missing

QUETTA: Kamal Sharif, a 17-year-old second-year student, and his close relative, Ehsan Sarwar, have been missing since 9 AM on Tuesday (February 4, 2025), sparking concern among their families and the local community. Their phones have remained off since that morning, raising fears of foul play.

Kamal Sharif is the son of Sharif Zakar, the director of Sachan School and a well-known social figure in the region. Ehsan Sarwar, his close relative, was with him on the fateful day.

According to Sharif Zakar, the two young men left Sachan School for an urgent matter near the Park Hotel but failed to return, and there has been no communication from them since.

“After they didn’t come back, I searched extensively to locate them but found no trace,” said Sharif Zakar. “I then went to the police station and filed a missing person report, hoping the authorities will investigate and uncover what happened.”

The family’s distress has been compounded by a recent incident at Sharif Zakar’s residence in Singani Sar in Turbat, Balochistan. On January 31, a hand grenade was thrown at his house, followed by gunfire.

No arrests have been made in connection with the attack, but the timing has raised suspicions that the two incidents may be linked.

It is worth noting that in October 2020, Sharif Zakar’s brother, Hanif, was killed in an attack believed to have been carried out by state-backed death squads. Hanif’s daughter, Tayyaba Baloch, a human rights activist, has also been threatened on several occasions to cease her activism.
