QUETTA: The dead body of a previously forcibly disappeared person has been found in the Shaho Kehn area of District Panjgur. The victim has been identified as Hayat son of Sabzal, a resident of Turbat, Balochistan.
According to reports, Hayat was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces on July 3, 2024, from Turbat, Balochistan.
Hayat Baloch’s family had staged a sit-in outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office, demanding his immediate release. The protest was called off after negotiations and assurances from the Deputy Commissioner, but the issue of Hayat’s disappearance remained unresolved.
It is important to note that many families of forcibly disappeared persons in Balochistan often temporarily suspend their protests after receiving assurances from local authorities that their loved ones will be released.
However, the ultimate decision regarding the release or continued illegal detention of the disappeared individuals rests with the Pakistani army.
Local authorities are typically used by the military to defuse tensions and calm the anger of the families of the forcibly disappeared.
