The Struggle Free Balochistan: Enemies Within and Beyond

By MB Marri

Balochistan has long been a land of struggle, resilience, and sacrifice. The Baloch people have faced oppression from external forces, particularly the Pakistani and the Iranian states. However, an even greater threat to Baloch freedom comes from within, those among us who betray their own people for power, money and survival under occupation.

For decades, the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies have waged a brutal war against the Baloch people. Enforced disappearances, torture, and extrajudicial killings have become routine. Women, children and elders are not spared. The recent abduction of a Baloch sister from Khuzdar is yet another tragic example of the systematic abuse inflicted upon Baloch families. This is not the first time, and it will not be the last, as Pakistani death squads continue their campaign of terror.

Rape, forced disappearances, and state-sponsored violence are used as weapons to break the spirit of the Baloch people. These crimes are committed with full impunity, as the world remains silent. The Pakistani army and its leaders operate with the intent of erasing Baloch identity and crushing any resistance.

While Pakistan commits its atrocities on one side, the Iran does the same on the other. The Baloch people in Iranian-occupied Balochistan face severe repression, economic deprivation, and cultural erasure. The Iranian government treats Baloch citizens as second-class, using executions, arbitrary arrests and violence to suppress any voice of dissent. The so-called “Gajar” rulers of Iran, like the Pakistani establishment, see the Baloch as a threat and work tirelessly to keep them under their control.

Despite the oppression from Pakistan and Iran, an even more dangerous enemy lies within, Baloch individuals who choose to collaborate with the oppressors. These people, who work with the Pakistani army and intelligence agencies, betray their own brothers and sisters. They act as informants, lead death squads, and help carry out the state’s dirty work against their own people.

Unlike the Punjabi or Iranian rulers, these traitors understand Baloch pain, history, and aspirations. Yet they still sell their souls for personal gain. Their betrayal is what allows Pakistan and Iran to continue their oppression with ease. Those who collaborate with the Pakistani army knowingly prolong the occupation of Balochistan and their own miseries. They may profit momentarily, but in the long run, they only deepen the suffering of their own people. This internal enemy must be recognised, exposed and dealt with, as they weaken the Baloch movement from within.

The Baloch Sarmachars (freedom fighters) have shown great courage in resisting these oppressive forces. The struggle is not only against external enemies like Pakistan and Iran but also against those within who weaken the movement from the inside.

For Balochistan to be free, the people must remain united. The fight is not just against the Punjabi or Persian rulers but also against the traitors among us. Only through discipline, integrity, and collective strength can Balochistan achieve true independence. The world may ignore the suffering of the Baloch people, but the struggle must continue, stronger than ever.
