Balochistan: Police Intensify Crackdown, Conducting House-to-House Searches and Arrests

QUETTA: Quetta police continued conducting house-to-house searches, arresting numerous citizens and transferring them to unknown locations. The city continues to see a heavy presence of police and security forces, particularly in areas affected by ongoing protests.

According to sources, the police initiated a search operation today in the Brewery Road Baloch Colony, raiding homes and conducting door-to-door searches. During this operation, several individuals, including Naveed Nechari, were taken into custody and transported to undisclosed locations.

The crackdown is part of the larger effort by authorities to control protests by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and other groups.

There are also reports of heavy security force activity on Quetta’s Western Bypass, with three young men reportedly disappearing forcibly from the area.

These developments have heightened fears of state repression, particularly in the wake of the BYC’s ongoing demonstrations against state brutalities, ongoing enforced disappearances and the arrest of its leaders Balochistan.

In addition to these arrests, sources in Quetta have reported that around 35 individuals, detained during the protests and police search operations, have been moved to the Brewery Police Station, where they remain incarcerated without any access to visitors.

Tensions remain high in the city as the protests, sparked by the BYC over government crackdowns, continue to unfold. Earlier today, several protesters were injured in clashes with police, with reports indicating that gunfire was used by authorities to disperse crowds.

In a further troubling development, plainclothes officers and police personnel detained two young sisters from the Killi Qambarani area of Quetta and transferred them to an unknown location.

This has drawn significant concern from human rights groups, as such actions are often seen as part of a broader pattern of intimidation and unlawful detentions.

The BYC has claimed that over 100 activists and ordinary citizens have been arrested under orders from the government, while nearly 40 others have been injured due to police violence.
