Balochistan: State Repression Against BYC Continues as Female Member’s House Ransacked

QUETTA: The state crackdown on members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) escalated yesterday as police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) forces raided the home of Gulzadi Baloch, a prominent female member of the BYC, ransacking her house and seizing personal belongings.

According to Gulzadi Baloch, the raid took place late last night when the forces broke into her room by forcefully breaking the lock. They then ransacked her home and took away several items, including her books, laptop, important documents, and clothes.

This incident comes just days after a similar raid, during which Gulzadi was arrested and taken into custody by police and CTD forces. After being held for a few hours, she was released, but her mobile phone and books were confiscated during that time and have yet to be returned.

Speaking about the earlier detention, Gulzadi stated that during her time in custody, the forces threatened her with physical and financial harm unless she distanced herself from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee and remained silent.

Despite the ongoing repression and threats, Gulzadi emphasised that neither she nor her fellow activists will be intimidated. “Such threats will not weaken us, nor will we compromise on the sacrifices made by our comrades and martyrs,” she firmly stated.

The ransacking of Gulzadi’s house is part of a broader pattern of increasing repression against the Baloch Yakjehti Committee and its members, who continue to speak out for the Baloch people’s rights, autonomy, and justice.

These actions have raised alarm about the continued violation of basic rights and the growing efforts to silence political opposition in Balochistan.
