Sammi Deen’s Release Blocked Despite Court Order for All Protesters to Be Freed

QUETTA: Sammi Deen, along with other detained Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) activists, was brought to court today following their arrest by Karachi police on Monday, when they organized a peaceful protest outside the Karachi Press Club. Despite being handcuffed, Deen maintained a resilient smile throughout the proceedings, showing unwavering determination.
While all other detained protesters were released after a court order, the release of Sammi Deen was blocked by the police. Despite the court ruling for her release, law enforcement officials locked the main gate of the court in an apparent attempt to prevent her from leaving and are now trying to re-arrest her by applying a fabricated case.
The police’s actions have drawn widespread condemnation, with critics accusing the authorities of blatantly disregarding judicial decisions. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by the state and law enforcement agencies to suppress the Baloch resistance movement. Despite these tactics, Sammi Deen and her supporters have vowed to continue their peaceful struggle against state oppression.
Speaking to the media, Deen reiterated her commitment to justice and peaceful protest. “Despite being acquitted by the court, the police are attempting to re-arrest me under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Act,” she said. “Our peaceful struggle against tyranny and for justice will not be deterred. We have always protested peacefully, and we will continue to do so. State violence cannot force us to abandon our fight for our people and for justice.”
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee and other pro-Baloch groups have condemned the police’s actions, viewing them as part of a broader campaign to silence opposition and stifle the Baloch resistance. The failure to comply with the court’s ruling raises concerns about the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law in Pakistan.
