Top IRGC Intelligence Operative Assassinated in Saravan Iranian Occupied Balochistan
DOZZAAP (SARAVAN): Orang Surizahi, a high-ranking local operative of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was assassinated on Friday, July 18, 2025, in a targeted armed attack in the Kaor Daab area at the end of Behdasht Boulevard in Saravan. The armed Baloch group Jaish al-Adl has claimed responsibility for the operation.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, Surizahi was inside his Toyota Helux vehicle when he was ambushed by gunmen. Gunfire reportedly continued for nearly an hour, suggesting that a clash may have taken place before the targeted killing. He died on the scene.
Initially, no group claimed responsibility for the assassination. However, hours later, Jaish al-Adl released a statement confirming that it had carried out the operation. The group described Surizahi as a senior intelligence official responsible for leading counterinsurgency operations and suppressing civilian dissent in the region.
In its statement, Jaish al-Adl labelled Surizahi a “notorious criminal” in the Saravan and Bampusht regions and an official member of the IRGC’s Intelligence Organisation. The group accused him of directing multiple armed raids against their fighters since 2014 and playing a key role in the Iranian regime’s campaign of repression against the Baloch population.
The statement further alleged that Surizahi had:
- Led armed intelligence units in operations targeting Jaish al-Adl fighters.
- Actively participated in the violent crackdown on protesters during the 2022 Saravan uprising.
- Engaged in the kidnapping and killing of Baloch civilians for financial gain.
- Facilitated a strategy of “controlled insecurity” by arming criminal gangs in exchange for intelligence cooperation.
- Was directly involved in the assassinations of pro-freedom fighters.
This was not the first attempt on Surizahi’s life. In July 2024, he narrowly survived an attack by Jaish al-Adl during a meeting with military officials in the Sobhan area of Saravan. That earlier ambush killed one soldier and wounded four others.
Surizahi’s killing marks a major blow to the IRGC’s intelligence operations in Balochistan at a time when the region is witnessing a dramatic escalation in armed resistance. Baloch pro-independence groups have intensified attacks in recent months in response to years of state violence, arbitrary arrest and execution, and systematic repression by Iranian forces.
