The Rhetoric of Peaceful Competition Between Nations

The Rhetoric of Peaceful Competition Between Nations

By Shahdad Baloch

There is nothing more horrific and deceitful than when nations lie to their own people, trapped in self-delusion, crafting illusions of peace in a world drenched in blood, where nations are battling for their very survival. Suddenly, peace is sold as a universal solution for all humanity. If that were truly the case, why are the Baloch, the Kurds and the Al-Ahwazi Arabs, who seek peaceful resolutions, constantly and deliberately ignored? The soil bears witness to the blood of freedom-seeking nations, yet imperial and colonial powers now cloak their domination behind ‘economic state policies’—designed to subdue, exploit, and enrich an elite class that dares to call it business, while turning a blind eye to the brutal history of conflicting ideologies.

When the dust of old empires settled, nationalism rose with fury, defining identities as German, French, or English. Their current prosperity stands upon the bones of heroes who resisted and annihilated intruders during wars of liberation, when a man was still of value, even if he had no “business.” Europe is not alone in this legacy—Latin America, Vietnam, Kosovo, East Timor—and now the Baloch, the Kurds and other enduring resistance movements reflect the same struggle for liberty. These blood-soaked paths and cries for vengeance still echo, seeking justice and glory. The so-called peace that ignores history breeds only havoc and disaster across continents.

Economic interests have never led to peace—but to world wars. Empires and superpowers, despite industrial revolutions, were brought to their knees when freedom’s fire could no longer be extinguished. In Balochistan, this flame burns with greater intensity. The wisdom and resolve of the Baloch leadership have dismantled illusions—obliterating the legitimacy of artificial constructs like the Goldsmith and Durand Lines. Baloch statesman Hyrbyair Marri, with unmatched clarity and resistance, has shattered the myths fabricated by complicit diplomats. These actors will find neither honour nor refuge on Baloch soil until the process of decolonisation of Balochistan is completed and the Balochistan Liberation Charter is implemented—only then will a settlement be possible.

History, carved in blood and sacrifice, teaches the Baloch people the brutal reality imposed upon them—those who dared to stand against the empire in the three Anglo-Marri wars, winning and losing with honour. Pakistan and Iran’s grip on Balochistan is born of injustice and cowardice. Courage—the true foundation of a state—was never acknowledged by the enemies and ill-wishers of the Baloch, yet it defines the Baloch nation today. Europe, by its very history, is a natural ally—having known the battles of conquest and liberation. From Portugal and Britain to the present occupiers—Pakistan, Iran, and even China—all have tasted the resistance of the Baloch, and all have failed.

From Vietnam to Balochistan, the definition of guerrilla resistance is carved in fire and sacrifice. The Baloch face genocide, yet neither threats nor terror will subdue them. Africa may have been abandoned to its fate, but in Balochistan, true statesmanship still breathes across generations. The Baloch honour their strategist Hyrbyair Marri, who, before any foreign intervention, instilled fear into the hearts of the Pakistan-Iran alliance—exposing their cowardice when they unleashed military jets on Baloch land, only to be resisted with unmatched bravery and meagre resources.

The Baloch understand strategy better than those who question their civility. If Pakistan and Iran represent civilisation, then the Baloch reject such a definition—for it is soaked in the blood of dishonour. Europe taught the world what it means to value identity, to protect culture, and to honour those who fight for their land. Then why is the so-called ‘humanitarian shield’ now used selectively—against the Baloch?

Veteran Baloch leader, the late Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, is honoured even among American thinkers for his unshakable will—a principle now carried forth by his son, strategist Hyrbyair Marri, who has awakened a generation to the reality of strategic struggle. The spark he ignited will become the fire that consumes Iran and Pakistan—if the world remains blind and fails to act.

The ideology of ‘economic interest’ has failed in Europe, and it will fail in Balochistan too—because this is not a war for profits; it is a war of survival, as evident from wars of liberation, if history is remembered. It will not cease until decolonisation of Balochistan is achieved—by diplomacy or by force. This generation of Baloch will resist. The enemies of Balochistan will know no peace. The war will continue and will end only with victory—or with the enemies buried beneath the soil they tried to claim.

The lectures of patience and delay must have no place in the Baloch freedom struggle. The movement must be concluded. The wisest ability the nation is witnessing in the contemporary movement for Balochistan’s freedom is strategy upon strategy—on the battlefield, where the Baloch are fighting occupiers who still deny the imminent truth.
