FBM Rejects double-faced politics, Calls Freedom the Only Path for Baloch Survival

LONDON: The Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) has issued a strong-worded statement condemning what it calls the “double-faced politics” of pro-Pakistan parliamentary parties operating in Balochistan, asserting that national freedom is the only solution to the Baloch conflict.

In a detailed press release, the FBM spokesperson criticised Baloch political factions that participate in Pakistan’s parliamentary system while claiming to represent Baloch nationalism. The statement argues that these parties are misleading the Baloch people with “the illusion of survival” by operating within a system that, according to the FBM, was built on the subjugation of Baloch land and identity.

“This contradiction — half Baloch nationalist, half Pakistani loyalist — is not just unacceptable to the Baloch people but now even to the Pakistani state itself,” the statement read, referencing the recent suicide attack on a BNP public rally that claimed the lives of more than 15 Baloch individuals. The FBM cited the incident as evidence that “even half-hearted loyalty” is no longer enough for the Pakistani state, which demands full allegiance from Baloch people.

The pro-freedom political party argued that while pro-parliamentary parties frame issues such as enforced disappearances and economic deprivation as central, the root cause remains the lack of national independence. According to the FBM, “If Baloch were not demanding sovereignty over their land, there would be no abductions, no disappearances, and no bloodshed. The core issue is not disappearances — it is freedom.”

The FBM denounced the belief that Baloch rights can be achieved within the Pakistani constitutional framework, calling it a dangerous mirage akin to a thirsty traveller in the desert mistaking sand for water.

“This illusion is the greatest poison. It turns the fundamental question of freedom into a secondary issue and elevates temporary economic gains in its place.”

The statement also criticised parliamentary politics for reducing the Baloch national struggle from one of existence and sovereignty to mere demands for basic infrastructure and jobs, describing this shift as a betrayal of the sacrifices made by Baloch martyrs and victims of enforced disappearances (political prisoners).

The FBM expressed alarm over increasing pressure on Baloch communities — particularly in Sindh — to relinquish their identity and adopt other ethnic identities. Despite large Baloch populations in Sindh, the group claims cultural erasure is being enforced through political and social means, including exclusion from official recognition in censuses.

“The biggest weapon of the occupying states is not bullets but the erasure of Baloch identity,” the statement emphasised. “The loss of identity and existence may cause more harm than any bloodshed.”

Drawing parallels with the historical fates of Native Americans and Indigenous Australians aborigines, the FBM warned that if Baloch people abandon the demand for independence in favour of short-term economic benefits, they too may be relegated to living like strangers on their own land, with no identity, no decision-making power, and no national dignity.

The group called for the Baloch people to reject the “mirage” of parliamentary politics and instead focus all their efforts on achieving national independence and full sovereignty.

“No constitutional framework, electoral process, or parliamentary seat can replace freedom,” the statement declared. “There is no middle path between freedom and slavery. It is either everything or nothing.”

Concluding its message, the FBM vowed to oppose any political narrative — whether from “open enemies” or “disguised nationalists” — that seeks to weaken the Baloch struggle for independence.

“The blood of the Baloch will accept no path other than freedom. This is not an emotional slogan, but a historical truth.”

The Free Balochistan Movement is a pro-freedom political party advocating for United Balochistan i.e. the independence of Balochistan from Pakistan and Iran. It has been vocal in international forums highlighting  Balochistan’s illegal occupation, human rights violations and military operations against Baloch people by Pakistan and Iran.
