Protest Rally Held in Mand Against Extrajudicial Killings by State-Backed Death Squads
SHAAL (QUETTA): The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), Kech Zone, organised a protest rally in Mand, Kech district, to condemn the extrajudicial killings of four Baloch youths carried out by state-backed death squads. The rally drew large participation from local residents, who united in a strong show of defiance against ongoing violence and militarisation in the region.
The protest was held in response to the killings of Izhar Baloch, Mullah Bahram, and Jalal Baloch on 6 September, followed by the killing of Iltaf Baloch on 12 September.
According to BYC, these individuals were victims of extrajudicial executions carried out by state-supported armed groups operating with impunity in Balochistan.
During the rally, participants rejected the presence and activities of death squads, stating that the Baloch people would no longer tolerate state-imposed repression and violence. Protesters carried placards and chanted slogans demanding justice and an immediate halt to systematic targeting of Baloch youth.
Speakers at the event emphasised that in Balochistan, especially in the Makran region, death squads have been given a free hand to operate, creating a climate of fear and insecurity. They warned that such policies not only endanger lives but also deepen the disconnect between the Baloch population and the state.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee reaffirmed its commitment to resist all forms of state violence and repression, vowing to continue raising its voice against human rights violations and the genocide of the Baloch people.
The rally concluded with renewed calls for accountability, justice for the slain individuals, and a complete disbandment of death squads operating in the region.
