Baloch Diaspora UK Stages Protest against Deadly Military Offensives in Balochistan
LONDON: Members of the Baloch Diaspora in the United Kingdom gathered today outside 10 Downing Street to protest against the ongoing military offensives by the Pakistani state in Balochistan, with a particular focus on the recent wave of violence in the Zehri region of Khuzdar district.
The demonstration aimed to draw international attention to the systematic campaign of state violence against Baloch civilians. Protesters held placards and chanted slogans condemning Pakistan’s military operations and drone attacks, which have resulted in the deaths of numerous innocent civilians, including women and children.
The Zehri region has become a flashpoint in recent weeks, with reports of intensified military aggressions by the Pakistan Army.
Protesters said that entire villages have been raided, homes burned and unarmed civilians targeted under the guise of anti-insurgency operations.
“Today’s protest is not just about one region, it’s about decades of brutality,” said the protesters. “But what’s happening in Zehri right now is a humanitarian crisis. Children are being killed, families are being displaced and the world remains silent.”
The protest comes amid growing calls from human rights organisations for independent investigations into the actions of Pakistani security forces in Balochistan.
The activists have urged the UK government and international bodies such as the United Nations to put pressure on Pakistan to halt the widespread human rights abuses.
Organisers of the protest say this demonstration is part of a broader campaign to amplify the voices of those in Balochistan who have long been ignored by the international community.
“We are standing here today to be the voice of the voiceless,” the speakers highlighted. “The people of Balochistan deserve justice, dignity and peace.”
