Balochistan: BLA Accepts Responsibility for Attack on Resource Extraction Project in Hub

SHAAL (QUETTA): The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has taken responsibility for an attack on a resource exploitation project in Hub, Balochistan, targeting a company involved in natural resource extraction.

According to a statement issued by Azad Baloch, spokesperson for the BLA, the attack was carried out by BLA fighters on October 3 at 6:00 PM.

In the statement, the BLA said that its fighters set the company’s machinery on fire, describing the target as part of the ongoing exploitation of Balochistan’s natural wealth by external forces.

“Our freedom fighters attacked a company that mines natural resources in occupied Balochistan. Fighters set the machinery of the company on fire,” the statement read.

The BLA has long opposed the occupation and plundering of Balochistan’s natural resources by the occupying states. The group has repeatedly warned companies and contractors  against operating in Balochistan and working in Pakistan army/state run exploitative projects.

The local Baloch see many such projects as extractive ventures that provide little benefit to Baloch communities while accelerating militarisation and environmental degradation.
