Balochistan: BYC Criticizes Arrests and Jail Trials of Its Leaders as Political Revenge
SHAAL (QUETTA): The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has condemned the continued detention and jail trial of its leaders, calling it an attempt to give a “legal” cover to political revenge.
The statement comes following a hearing in ATC Court 1 regarding the bail applications of BYC leaders Dr. Maharang Baloch, Beebarg Baloch, Shah Ji Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, and Beebo Baloch.
During the hearing, arguments were presented on nine First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against the leaders. The court reserved its decision until November 6, noting key points raised during the proceedings.
According to the BYC, the leaders have been in detention for seven months. For the first three months, they were held illegally under the 3 MPO (Maintenance of Public Order). Subsequently, false cases and fabricated FIRs have been used to keep them in continuous imprisonment. The organisation described these actions as a violation of basic human rights and a clear example of state oppression and political revenge.
The BYC criticised the registration of minor political cases in anti-terrorism courts, claiming it undermines legal due process and aims to suppress dissenting voices and the democratic struggle of the Baloch people. They further highlighted tactics used to delay proceedings, including repeated remands, the absence of judges, and now holding trials inside the jail, all intended to prolong the cases unnecessarily.
The organisation reiterated its commitment to peaceful political resistance and vowed to continue highlighting human rights violations in Balochistan before the international community. They warned that they would expose all unconstitutional actions by the state while resisting oppression through democratic means.
