Balochistan: BYC Slams Judicial Complicity as CTD Fails to Submit Full Reports in Leaders’ Jail Hearing
SHAAL (QUETTA): The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has condemned the “deepening judicial complicity” following yet another jail hearing in which the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) failed to submit complete investigation reports in the cases against detained BYC leaders.
During the hearing held on Friday, the CTD reportedly produced only three of the several required complaint reports related to First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against the BYC leadership — a move the organisation says constitutes a “blatant violation” of legal procedure. Under existing law, such reports must be submitted within 15 days of filing an FIR.
Despite more than a month having passed since the leaders’ judicial remand, BYC representatives stated that the judiciary has taken no effective action to compel the CTD’s compliance. The group accused the courts of enabling “systematic delays” and reinforcing a “culture of impunity” surrounding state actions in Balochistan.
“This ongoing collaboration between state institutions reflects a deliberate attempt to prolong the unlawful detention of our leadership and silence the movement for justice,” the BYC said in a statement issued after the hearing.
The detained leaders include Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Beebagar Baloch, Beebow Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, and SibgatUllah Shah Ji — all of whom have been prominent figures in peaceful campaigns highlighting enforced disappearances and human rights violations in Balochistan.
The Committee emphasised that the repeated procedural violations are not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern aimed at “criminalising peaceful political activism.”
