Balochistan: Man Sentenced to Five Years in Prison on Espionage Charges

DOZZAAP (ZAHEDAN): A Baloch citizen from Pakistan Occupied Balochistan has been sentenced to five years in prison by the Zahedan Revolutionary Court on charges of espionage for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), according to the Baloch Activists Campaign.

The individual, identified as Mashooq (also spelled Mashuk) Mousazahi son of Akbar and a resident of Turbat in eastern Balochistan, was previously arrested by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence forces. He had been released on heavy bail pending trial.

A family member told the Baloch Activists Campaign that Mashooq was convicted last week and received a five-year prison sentence. On Monday, October 20, 2025, he travelled from Chabahar to Zahedan and voluntarily reported to Zahedan prison to begin serving his sentence.

Mashooq had legally entered Iran via the Rimdan land border crossing using a passport. However, on February 19, 2024, he was violently arrested by IRGC Intelligence agents in the Golshahr area of Chabahar and transferred to Zahedan.

According to the campaign, he was subjected to six months of torture before being released on bail.

In a related incident, Mashooq’s brother, Talal Mousazahi, who travelled from the United Arab Emirates to Chabahar to follow up on the case, was also detained by security forces at Konarak Airport. He was held for three months before being released.

Human rights organisations have repeatedly raised concerns over due process violations and the mistreatment of detainees in Iran, particularly among the Baloch .
