Balochistan: Pakistani Forces Abducted Two Men and Killed them In Custody
SHAAL (QUETTA): Two dead bodies were discovered in separate locations in the Prom and Gwash areas of Panjgur district, Balochistan, in incidents that have sparked fresh concerns over extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in the region.
According to local sources, in the early hours of Sunday, around 3:00 a.m., personnel from Pakistani security forces, accompanied by members of a state-backed death squad, raided the Jain area of Prom and abducted Zahoor son of Arz Muhammad. His body was found hours later, dumped in the Daz Gomazi area of Prom.
In a separate incident, Faqir Jan son of Ghulam Jan Shambayzai, was abducted on the night of October 18 from the Gwash area by armed men travelling in a Surf vehicle. Locals allege that he was taken by operatives of a state-aligned death squad. His body was later found in the same area.
Both incidents have fuelled anger and fear among residents, who say such acts are part of a growing and deeply troubling pattern in Balochistan, where individuals are abducted, killed and their bodies discarded without accountability.
Human rights groups and Baloch activists have long accused Pakistani security forces and affiliated groups of targeting political activists, students and other civilians in Balochistan as part of a broader campaign to suppress dissent.
