Ahwazi Group Condemns 97th Anniversary of Western Part of Balochistan Occupation

BW News Web Desk: Salah Abu Sharif Ahwazi, Secretary-General of the Ahwazi Democratic Popular Front (ADPF), has issued a strong condemnation of the 97th anniversary of the occupation of Western part of Balochistan, describing it as the beginning of decades of repression, killings, and structural destruction of the Baloch national identity.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Abu Sharif highlighted the historical and ongoing connections between the Arab people of Al-Ahwaz and the Baloch people, calling attention to the enduring struggle of both groups against centralising Persian-dominated policies.

According to the ADPF, the occupation of Western part of Balochistan by the Pahlavi regime in 1928 marked the start of a concerted effort to dismantle the political, cultural, and economic existence of the Baloch people. The statement further claimed that these policies intensified under the Islamic Republic, with widespread executions, systematic repression, economic discrimination, environmental destruction and disruption of the Baloch social fabric.

Abu Sharif emphasised that the Baloch resistance is part of the broader struggle of non-Persian nations seeking liberation and the right to self-determination. He called for unity among occupied peoples as a cornerstone in the fight for freedom, justice, and human dignity.

Paying tribute to martyr Dost Mohammad Khan Baloch and all freedom fighters, the ADPF reaffirmed that no occupation is permanent and that the right of peoples to self-determination is an inherent, internationally recognised right.
