Balochistan Faces Surge in Enforced Disappearances, Torture and Extrajudicial Killings
SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The cycle of enforced disappearances, custodial torture, and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan continues unabated, with recent incidents underscoring the growing human rights crisis in the province. Residents and rights activists report that civilians, including children, teachers, and students, are increasingly targeted by security forces and state-backed armed groups.
On November 22, 2025, Pakistani forces abducted 15-year-old Nasreena Baloch from her home in Daaro eara of Hub Chowki. She was transferred to an unknown location, prompting urgent calls from her family and human rights organisations for her safe recovery.
On November 19, 2025, Ajaz Baloch, 27, who had been forcibly disappeared from Kunchati Dasht on November 16, succumbed to injuries sustained during custody. Admitted to Turbat Civil Hospital in critical condition, his body bore clear signs of severe physical torture.
On the same day, Ismail Baloch, 25, forcibly disappeared on November 18 by a state-backed death squad in Khuzdar, was recovered dead with multiple bullet wounds.
Also on November 19, the mutilated body of school teacher Ayaz Baloch, forcibly disappeared on November 12 in Buleda, Kech, was found in the Reko Dam area; his family identified him by his clothing and shoes due to severe decomposition.
On November 18, 2025, Ismail Ibrahim, a resident of Mand, Kech, was killed by direct gunfire from Frontier Constabulary personnel while on a picnic. His friend, Noman Baloch, was forcibly disappeared the same day.
On November 17, 2025, Zareef Baloch, forcibly disappeared in March 2025 from Ormara, was found dead in Bannok-e-Chadai, Kech, with bullet wounds indicating extrajudicial killing.
On the same day, Farooq Naeem, a teenager from Khairabad, Kech, who had been detained on April 24, 2025, at the Talar checkpoint, was recovered dead in Bannok-e-Chadai. His body showed signs of prolonged torture, including electric shocks and burns.
In Dera Bugti district, Pakistani forces conducted raids on multiple homes, forcibly disappearing over 15 individuals, including three members of the same family: Qaseer Rehan Bugti, Jeha Khan Mehrullah Bugti, and Khan Mehrullah Bugti. Other missing persons include Shabbir Sohbat Bugti, Mangal Ghulam Bakhsh Bugti, Hassan Ali Sher Bugti, Rasheed Jan Muhammad Bugti, Nowroz Nihal Bugti, and Islam Ramzan Bugti.
In Panjgur, Nazeer Baloch, Beebgar Baloch and Attaullah Baloch were forcibly disappeared while travelling with their families. Shehzad Baloch and Jangiyan Baloch were also abducted along the route. In Gwadar, Sanaullah Baloch was detained at the Talar checkpoint and in Kech, Suhail Baloch, Jangiyan, Sanaullah, Peer Jan and Abid Baloch were forcibly taken to unknown locations. Muhammad Shoaib was abducted in Surab, while Peer Jan and Abid Baloch were detained in Karachi by MI and ISI personnel on November 13.
In Qalat, two unidentified bodies were recovered and transferred to the district hospital for identification.
Human rights organisations and political parties in Balochistan have condemned the ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances, custodial torture, and killings.
They have demanded that all missing persons be either safely recovered or at least presented in courts of law. Civilians in Balochistan continue to live under fear, with security forces and state-backed groups implicated in widespread human rights violations targeting ordinary citizens.
