Balochistan: Pakistani Forces Mortar Shelling, Five Girls Injured, One Critical
SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: Five young girls were injured, one critically, following a mortar shelling attack on the Garrok area in Hoshap district Kech, which local sources was carried out by Pakistani forces. The injured girls were quickly transported to Turbat Teaching Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
According to local reports, mortar shells were fired indiscriminately at residential homes in Hoshap from an unknown direction, with the local population, particularly women and children, bearing the brunt of the attack. One of the injured girls is in a critical condition, and her family is reportedly anxiously awaiting further updates on her condition.
An official at Turbat Teaching Hospital confirmed the arrival of five wounded children from Hoshap, stating that the girls were being provided with urgent medical care. However, there has been no official statement from local or military authorities regarding the nature of the shelling.
In addition to the mortar attack, reports also surfaced of armed militants setting up roadblocks, conducting snap security checks and engaging in gunfire exchanges with Pakistani security forces in the Hoshap area. These incidents have added to the already tense situation in the region.
While no formal confirmation has been issued by the government or police about the mortar shelling, local residents and human rights organisations have raised alarm over the use of heavy artillery in populated areas, calling it a violation of civilian safety and human rights.
