Balochistan: State-Sponsored Death Squads Murder of Two Baloch Men

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has condemned the recent murders of two Baloch men, Muhammad Alam and Jalaluddin Baloch, alleging that both killings were carried out by state-supported armed groups operating in the region. The killings come amidst growing concerns over ongoing human rights abuses, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and targeted violence against Baloch civilians.

The first incident occurred on November 25, 2025, when 26-year-old Muhammad Alam son of Mola Bakhsh was killed in a targeted shooting in Gresha area of Khuzadr district, Balochistan. According to the BYC, he was going to a village near the Maskay Bypass Road to visit his in-laws when masked gunmen opened fire on him at close range. He died on the spot.

Eyewitnesses reported that Alam, who was the sole breadwinner for his family, including a disabled brother, elderly father and young children, was deliberately targeted by armed groups believed to be operating under the control of Pakistan’s military. The BYC emphasised that Alam’s murder is part of a broader pattern of violence directed at Baloch civilians by state-backed paramilitary groups, which have been responsible for numerous acts of violence in the region.

In a separate incident on November 26, 2025, Jalaluddin Baloch, a 30-year-old driver, was also killed in a targeted attack. According to reports, Baloch was shot by armed, masked motorcyclists while cleaning his vehicle at a service station in the city. The attackers, who witnesses claim were members of a state-backed militia, shot Baloch at point-blank range, leaving him dead at the scene.

Local residents have linked the attack to the victim’s two brothers, who had previously been detained by Pakistani security forces. One of the brothers, Diljan, was released after several days, while the other, Kamal, remains missing. There has been no information regarding Kamal’s whereabouts or his condition.

The BYC spokesperson pointed out that Jalaluddin’s killing is consistent with the pattern of targeted violence carried out by paramilitary death squads that are working in conjunction with Pakistani military forces. These groups are accused of engaging in extrajudicial killings, abductions and attacks on civilians, creating an environment of fear and repression across Balochistan.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has expressed grave concern over the recent murders, stating that these killings are part of a wider campaign of violence against the Baloch population. BYC spokesperson argue that such acts of terror are part of a broader strategy to suppress dissent and intimidate the Baloch people, particularly in light of the ongoing human rights crisis in the region.

“The murder of Muhammad Alam and Jalaluddin Baloch reflects the deepening state violence in Balochistan, where civilians are routinely subjected to forced disappearances, torture, and extrajudicial killings,” said the BYC in a statement. “Meanwhile, those responsible for these crimes continue to operate with complete impunity.”
