Balochistan: VBMP Express Concerns About Abduction of 15-year-old Baloch Girl

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: Human rights concerns have intensified in Balochistan after reports surfaced that a 15-year-old Baloch girl, originally from Awaran, was abducted by Pakistani security forces in the industrial city of Hub Chowki and subsequently moved to an undisclosed location.

According to local sources, personnel from Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies conducted a midnight raid on 22 November in the Daaro Hotel area of Hub Chowki.

During the unwarranted offensive, they detained Nasreena daughter of Dilawar Baloch and transported her to an unknown location. Family members and local activists say she has not been seen since.

Incidents of women being forcibly disappeared in Balochistan have been raised by rights groups in the past.

Activists highlight that several such cases remain unresolved, including that of Mah Jabeen, who was abducted from Quetta five months ago and remains in the custody of Pakistani forces. Her family has not been informed about her whereabouts.

Reacting to the latest incident, Nasrullah Baloch, chairman of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), expressed deep concern and called for Nasreena’s immediate and safe recovery.

He said the VBMP had received a complaint alleging that security forces raided a house in the Daro area of Hub Chowki and took the teenage girl into custody. He described the reports as alarming and condemnable.

Nasrullah Baloch urged the provincial government to take notice of the extrajudicial arrest and enforced disappearance of the young girl.

He said that if authorities have any allegations against her, she should be produced before a court and given an opportunity to defend herself under the law. If she is innocent, he added, the government must ensure her release to relieve her family of psychological distress.

As of the time of reporting, no official response has been issued by the provincial government or security forces regarding the abduction or the whereabouts of the missing teenager.
