Intl Community Must Hold Pakistan Accountable for Serious Human Rights Violations: BYC
SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) in statement said that the Pakistani military forces have targeted unarmed civilians in the Hoshab area of Kech, Balochistan, with a mortar attack that has left several children severely injured, one of whom succumbed to her injuries.
According to the BYC, the incident occurred on November 29, 2025, when multiple mortar shells fired by the Pakistani army struck a residential house.
Local sources reported that the mortar shells landed directly on the house, causing significant damage to the structure. Several children were reportedly inside the home at the time of the attack, including 11-year-old Durdanag, 12-year-old Tahira, 13-year-old Aziza, and 18-year-old Asia. The explosions caused severe injuries, with some of the children suffering from fractures and wounds caused by shrapnel.
Of the injured, Aziza and Tahira were both critically wounded, sustaining fractures to their legs and spine in addition to injuries from mortar shrapnel. Aziza was referred to Karachi for emergency medical treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries en route to Karachi.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee described the attack as part of a broader and ongoing pattern of state violence against civilians in the region. “This attack on a residential area is a continuation of the widespread and systematic use of violence by state forces against the civilian population of Balochistan,” the BYC said in a statement.
The Committee highlighted that women and children are disproportionately affected by indiscriminate force, shelling, collective punishment and threats. “These continuous acts of violence have created an atmosphere of fear, instability and deep psychological trauma among the people of Balochistan,” the statement added.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has urged international human rights organizations, including the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch, to take immediate notice of what it calls “serious human rights violations” and the ongoing mistreatment of civilians in Balochistan.
“The international community must take urgent action to hold the Pakistani authorities accountable for these ongoing violations and ensure the protection of innocent lives,” the Committee said.
