Students at Quaid-i-Azam University Enter 7th Day of Sit-In, Demand Accountability and Action

ISLAMABAD: The Baloch Students at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) entered the seventh day of their sit-in protest today, maintaining their stance for justice, truth, and accountability.

The protest, which began on November 29, 2023, was sparked by mounting grievances with both the university and Islamabad administrations, following an unresolved case concerning student rights and safety.

For nearly a week, student demonstrators have gathered at the heart of the campus, demanding the university administration take swift action on a series of issues, including the delayed submission of an official report due on November 28, 2023. The report was meant to be delivered before the Baloch Students, but according to protestors, it has yet to be submitted, despite repeated promises from university officials.

“We are here today not just because of one broken promise, but because of a pattern of delay, avoidance, and bureaucratic hurdles,” said a spokesperson for the protesting students. “The hearing for Saeed’s case, which was scheduled for December 1, was also postponed without any explanation. These are not mere coincidences, they are deliberate tactics to suppress our voices and avoid accountability.”

The protestors have accused both QAU’s administration and local authorities in Islamabad of using every possible resource to prevent the concerns of students from being addressed. The university, which has promised to resolve these issues, has yet to take any substantial action, leading to growing frustration among the student body.

The protestors have made it clear that they will not relent until their demands are met. “We will not be silenced, and we will not step back,” the spokesperson emphasized. “Until the university addresses our concerns, we will continue our sit-in. The responsibility for this ongoing disruption lies squarely with the QAU administration and Islamabad officials.”
