Balochistan: BLA Claims Responsibility for Attack on Coast Guard Camp in Gwadar
SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) accepted responsibility for an attack on a Pakistan Coast Guard facility in Jiwani area of Gwadar Balochistan on December 5, according to a statement attributed to the group’s spokesperson, Azad Baloch.
In the statement, the BLA said that its fighters carried out an attack at around noon, targeting vehicles “filled with diesel” inside the central Bandari Coast Guard camp located in Jiwani.
The group added that the attack caused a fire within the camp premises. The BLA in its statement said that the vehicles targeted had been used to transport diesel “forcibly seized from local Baloch” and accused the Coast Guard of exploiting local traders involved in the fuel business.
The spokesperson issued a warning to local drivers, urging them not to cooperate with security Pakistani forces. The statement said that any individual, local or non-local, found providing assistance to the Coast Guard or other security agencies would be considered a direct target by the group.
The BLA has been involved in a long-running insurgency in Balochistan and has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks on security forces and infrastructure in the past.
The Pakistani media and local authorities have not yet release an official response regarding the latest attack by BLA.
