Balochistan: Fresh Protests, Press Conferences Against Disappearances

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The families of abducted Baloch and students in Balochistan continue to raise their voices against the ongoing incidents of enforced disappearances, demanding the immediate and safe recovery of several missing individuals, including university students and young labourers.

Family of UOB Student Shehzad Munir Demands Immediate Recovery

At the Quetta Press Club, the family of Shehzad Munir, a student of the University of Balochistan, condemned the forcible disappearance carried out by state agencies. They said that Pakistani security personnel raided their home late at night without a warrant and took Shehzad to an undisclosed location.

The family expressed grave concern over the lack of information provided by any state institution, calling it a violation of constitutional rights. Citing Articles 9 and 10-A of the Constitution, the relatives demanded Shehzad’s immediate recovery or his production before a court if any charges exist. They urged media outlets to highlight the incident through the lens of human rights and justice.

University of Turbat Students Rally for Missing Classmates

In Turbat, students of the University of Turbat held a large protest rally against the disappearance of their fellow students Noor Khan Nazar, Rahmat Halko and Imran Taj. The rally, held inside the university premises, saw a large turnout of students carrying placards demanding the safe return of the missing students.

Student leaders said the three young men have been missing for months, with no updates shared by authorities. They criticised the continued disappearances of students, calling the practice a clear violation of the law. Protesters warned that demonstrations would intensify if the missing students were not recovered soon. The rally concluded peacefully, but students pledged to continue their protest until their colleagues are found.

Family of Yahya Abdul Wahid Appeals for His Recovery

At a separate press conference in Turbat, the family of  young labourer Yahya Abdul Wahid expressed anguish over his disappearance after being detained by Pakistani security forces from the Baloch Colony area of the industrial town of Hub Chowki Balochistan on 8 September 2025. Three months have passed, the family said, without any information about his condition or whereabouts.

Yahya’s sister said he was the sole breadwinner of the family following their father’s death, supporting his four sisters through daily labour. She appealed to authorities to either release him or present him before a court if any allegations exist.

Despite submitting multiple applications to the Deputy Commissioner of Kech, the family says no satisfactory response has been received. They urged the media to play its role in bringing attention to their plight.

With university students, young labourers and ordinary citizens among those forcibly disappeared, families and civil society groups continue to raise concerns over the worsening human rights crisis in Balochistan.

Families across the region have reiterated that their demands are constitutional, humanitarian, and non-political. Their calls have centred on one appeal: that the disappeared individuals be produced before courts, informed of charges, if any, and given due legal rights.
