Balochistan: Pakistani forces Abduct Young Baloch Poet In Quetta

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: A young Balochi-language poet was taken into custody by Pakistani security forces in Shaal (Quetta) late last night and has not been seen since, according to local media outlet Hamgam News and sources familiar with the situation.

The poet has been identified as Hilal Dad, known in emerging literary circles for his socially conscious poetry and his active commentary on community issues.

Sources say Hilal completed his education at the Economics Department of Sargodha University.

Local writers and community members expressed growing concern over his disappearance, noting that no official information has been released regarding his whereabouts or the reason for his detention.

Human rights activists and Baloch cultural groups have stated that this incident fits a pattern they have long documented, in which poets, singers, students and social activists from Balochistan have been subjected to enforced disappearances and in many cases, later found dead.
