Balochistan: Two Men Remain Missing After Police Abduction, Dr Rashid Recovered
SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: Two men from Balochistan have been disappeared after abduction by Pakistani police and security agencies, highlighting growing concerns over enforced disappearances in Balochistan.
Two men from Mastung, Saeed Ahmed and Muhammad Tariq, have been missing for eighteen days after being detained by police near Sona Khan while travelling from Mastung to Quetta. Their families say the police took them along with their vehicle, leaving their family members stranded on the road.
The following day, the family learned that the two men were in illegal custody at Shaalkot Police Station. They approached the courts, but according to the family, police were forewarned about the lawyer’s arrival and transferred the men to an unknown location. The family has warned that the two men remain in illegal detention and face serious life-threatening risks due to police torture.
Separately, Dr. Rashid Ali, a consultant urologist from Sangabad, Kech, has been recovered after being forcibly disappeared. Dr. Ali was allegedly summoned to an office in Quetta by Pakistani intelligence agencies at 11 p.m. on December 9, after which he went missing.
Families of the enforced disappeared men have called upon the higher judiciary, human rights organisations, and government authorities to ensure the immediate and safe recovery of Saeed Ahmed and Muhammad Tariq.
