United Free Balochistan: The Human Immune System and the Occupying States
Sadiq Raisani Advocate
An unconventional but very effective example for understanding the Balochistan freedom movement is the human immune system. Just as the human body has a defence system for its own protection, so too does every nation, every land and every struggle for freedom have its own natural protective structure. When this defence system is strong, both the body and the nation remain safe, and when this system weakens, external invaders take root. This is the situation in Balochistan where the concept of a united free Balochistan is like a collective immune system that stands to protect its land, nation, resources and identity from enemy forces.
The most basic role of the immune system in the human body is to differentiate between the enemy and its own. Whatever has the potential to harm the body, the immune system declares it as non-existent and resists it. If this principle is seen in the light of the Baloch national movement, the Pakistani and Iranian states are the elements that pose a constant threat to the geography, identity, language, resources and existence of the people of Balochistan. The occupying states are playing the same role on the political body of the Baloch nation that poisonous germs do on the human body by penetrating and weakening the system that is actually necessary for the survival of the nation.
The state structure of a healthy and independent nation stands as a protective wall for its own people, but when an occupying state occupies a nation, it takes the form of a sick state immune system. Such an immune system considers its own citizens as enemies and uses force against them, just as in human diseases the immune system mistakenly attacks its own cells. In Balochistan, Baloch genocide, state terror, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, collective punishments, military occupation and ethnic violence are symptoms of this damaged immune system. A state that considers its people as enemies can never be the guardian of their security.
This is where the Baloch independence movement plays the role of an alternative and real immune system. These organizations are the internal security system of the nation that resists external invaders. These movements symbolize the collective force that determines who is a threat to the nation and who is not. They identify the enemy, protect the people, strengthen the weak parts and keep alive the concept of a united and independent Balochistan. Thus, these movements are an active and living national immune system that tries to stop the diseases of the occupying states of Pakistan and Iran, oppression, plunder, slavery and genocide.
The concept of a united and independent Balochistan is like a healthy body, all parts of which are connected under a strong system. In this independent Balochistan, state institutions will be the protectors of the people, not their enemies, the immune system there will stop external invaders, not cause suffering to the internal people. In the future, the political unity of Balochistan, geographical autonomy, protection of resources, survival of the national language and culture will be the foundations that will make it a powerful and living state.
In this whole process, the foresight, principle and discipline of the real leaders of the freedom movement are also very important. They have to not only resist the enemy forces but also ensure unity within the Baloch nation. Differences, personal interests, tribal divisions and distrust are internal diseases that must be stopped. A strong movement is one that recognizes and treats the internal diseases of the nation, because a weak internal structure makes the way easy for the enemy. Similarly, the responsibilities of these freedom-loving organizations include raising the Baloch issue at the global level, creating awareness among the people, formulating political strategies and giving the struggle an organized and collective form.
The occupying states of Pakistan and Iran are always trying to weaken the nation’s immune system, that is, to divide the Baloch national movement, to frighten the people and to defeat it mentally. But the United Balochistan movement has proven that when a nation stands up for its existence, no force can completely destroy it. Historically, every nation has rebuilt its defence system and finally achieved independence.
Thus, the dream of a united and independent Balochistan is not just a political desire but also a biological, social and historical necessity, just as everybody needs a healthy immune system to survive. The real immune system of Balochistan is the one that is still fighting for the survival of its nation despite the oppression of the occupying states. This movement is the force that is laying the foundation for a free, organized and autonomous Balochistan, where the body of the nation will also be free and its defence system will also be free.
