Balochistan: Pakistani Forces Abduct Two Women in Kech, as Enforced Disappearances continue
KECH, BALOCHISTAN: Reports from the Tajaban area of Kech district indicate that Pakistani security forces conducted a late-night raid on the night of 28 April, 2026 on a residential property, during which two women were detained and taken to an undisclosed location.
According to local sources, the women, identified as Zubaida Baloch wife of Haji Badal and her daughter-in-law Zarnaz wife of Daulat, were forcibly abducted from their home. Their current whereabouts remain unknown and there has been no official confirmation from authorities regarding their detention.
Sources added that the incident is linked to the killing of Daulat son of Haji Badal, who was shot dead on February 18 by an armed group locally referred to as “death squads.” These groups operate with the backing of Pakistani security forces.
The detentions have intensified concerns about a rise in enforced disappearances in Balochistan. In recent days, multiple cases involving women have been reported, including that of Khadija Baloch, a medical student.
In a separate development, a woman previously reported missing from Ornach in Khuzdar district was later recovered.
Human rights groups and local observers say that over the past year, more than 16 women in Balochistan have been subjected to enforced disappearance. While some individuals have since resurfaced, others remain unaccounted for, with families complaining they are in the custody of state forces.
