Balochistan: No tangible result from UN WGEID about enforced-disappearances: IVBMP

The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP) in a statement issued on their Facebook page said that the organisation submitted many cases to the UN ‘Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, but in return received no tangible result on the part of UN Working Group.

The IVBMP made these remarks as they posted appeals of the families of two Baloch abducted persons.

Five years ago, in 2015, Rashid Ali son of Abdul Rashid was whisked away by Pakistani security forces from Jaheen, Prom district of Panjgur.

An anonymous witness wrote, “The the cries of a poor Baloch mother still echoes in my ears and I remember very well that at [in Panjgur] at Parom High School Bibi Madina lay down her Balochi scarf in front of the Frontier Corps’ officer lieutenant-colonel Usman and begged to her help her get her son back.”

He son Rashid Ali was picked up by Pakistani forces and taken to FC headquarters in Panjgur without any legal procedure and court order.

The witness further added that the Frontier Corps’ lieutenant-colonel Usman told her convincingly that her son would be released soon and return back to her. Sadly, her son never released. He has been missing from the past five or six years.  As a result, Rashid Ali aged mother Bibi Madina suffered mental torture and passed away a few years ago of desperation and anguish.

According to anonymous witness, the entire Prom town knows that her son Rashid Ali had never been involved in any kind of unlawful activities. They’re a poor family and living a hard time to make ends meet.

Pakistani forces abducted another Baloch youth named Abdul Rasheed son of Saleh Mohammed, 11th of November 2014 from ‘ Keli Fakeran Nushki, his family has been waiting for his returned from past six years.

The IVBMP brief report read that the forcible abduction of Abdul Rasheed and keeping him incommunicado by Pakistan forces inflicted a costly price on his father Saleh Mohammad. This caused him a heart attack and he lost his life.

“Now, his mother is begging justice for her son. The Pakistani judiciary and all related institutions are ignoring his old mother’s plea for justice and they are dead silent while the mother’s health is deteriorating day by day due to six years of the enforced disappearance of her son.”

According to IVBMP, the Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International also have released their reports about forcibly abducted Baloch persons.

Yet, the UN and the International Community are silent and unable to act against Pakistani Security forces who are committing gross human rights violations across Balochistan against the Baloch civilian are population.

International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP) has appealed to all political, social and human rights organisations for Abdul Rashid’s safe release from the captivity of security forces.

“The UN and international human rights organisations must play a proactive role in helping Rashid’s aged mother to get her son released as per UN universal human rights mandate. She should not end up like her husband and die from a heart attack.”
