Dr Malik’s ‘Education Emergency’: Baloch educationist gunned down in Gawadar

GAWADAR: In an apparent act of target killing miscreants shot dead a private school principle in Gawadar area of Balochistan on Thursday morning.
According to detail armed motorcycle riders intercepted Mohammad Zahid [Zahid Askani Baloch] at PTCL colony and opened indiscriminate firing at his vehicle.
Resultantly, Mr Askani died on the spot and the attackers managed to escape after committing the crime in broad day light.
Zahid Askani was the principle and founder of OASIS, a private school teaching English language to girls and boys in the area.
Friends on social media described Zahid Askani as not ‘just a headmaster’ but he was also a well-respected educator.
Jawad H Baloch wrote on Facebook: “He pioneered establishing an English medium school and an English language center in Gwadar. He was running an English Language Centre and a school with multiple campuses (for boys and girls) promoting education in Gwadar. He was a dedicated teacher, a social development practitioner, an administrator, and a servant leader of Baloch nation.”
Others termed his tragic death as a ‘great loss’ for the Baloch nation.
