 Balochistan: Enforced disappearances continue despite government claims of freeing abducted persons

QUETTA: The enforced disappearances and kill and dump policy of Pakistani state continues unabated in Balochistan despite the newly elected government’s claims that they have released many previously abducted Baloch.

Balochwarna News has compiled the reports of the of recent military offensives and unwarranted raids in different area of Balochistan during which several people were abducted and taken to undisclosed locations.

On September 1, 2018, the Pakistani security forces have abducted at least 18 people during ongoing military offensives in district Mastung Balochistan since past five days.

The victims were picked up from most affected areas of Mastung in Guraap, Rubdaar, Siyaah, Johan and Dilband where Pakistani troops have been carrying out unwarranted offensives since last week.

The identity and other details of the abducted person could not be ascertained until the filing of this report due to lack of communication system and the active military siege around above-mentioned areas.

Earlier on Saturday September 1, Pakistani forces have abducted two Baloch students from Hoshab area of district Kech and Mashkay areas district Awaran Balochistan.

One of the victims Naseem Baloch son of Azeem Baloch was offloaded from a vehicle on his way from Hoshaab to Quetta to resume his studies after the holiday breaks.

Also, on the same day Pakistani forces have disappeared another three men including Mahmood son of Ghulam Jan during a raid in Taraat Dann town of Mashkay while another two men named Zakir son of Murad and Khalil son of Amin were abducted from Awaran town in district Awaran Balochistan.

On Friday, August 31, 2018, Pakistani forces have whisked away 11 persons and killed at least one during a raid in Zangi Navadh area of district Noshki, Balochistan.

The murdered victim was identified as Nizam son of  Peer Muhammad Sasoli, a resident of Parod town in Kalat district.

Separately, on August 31, 2018 Security forces have handed over the dead body of 16-year-old Majeed son of Ali Jan to his family.

Majeed was arrested along with Sana son of Nabi Baksh and his whereabouts remained unknown until Friday when Pakistani forces returned his dead body whereas there is still no clue of Sana’s whereabouts.

On Thursday, August 30, 2018, armed men opened fire and wounded one person when they tried to kidnap two men and the victims resisted their arrest.

The injured man has been named as Talal son of Agha Tariq and his companion has been identified as Agha Asim son of Zafar. Initially, the assailants abducted both men after resistance but were forced to let Talal go due to him being injured.

During a different offensive, Pakistani forces abducted Fida son of Mehmood, a resident of Gobard Mand in district Kech Balochistan.

On August 29, 2018, sources informed Balochwarna News that the dead body of a previously abducted Baloch was discovered in Steel Town, Karachi on 18 August 2018.

The identity of the dead body was ascertained as that of Mohammad Bakhsh son of Kamali. He was abducted from in front of a Pakistani military camp in district Awaran Balochistan in 2015.

In other news Balochistan, local media reported on 28 August that Pakistani forces abducted Basheer son of Sher Mohammad resident of Toba area of Mashkay on 22 August 2018 from Mashkay’s Tank region in district Awaran Balochistan.

In a separate but similar offensive, Pakistani forces abducted newlywed Sadiq son of Maulvi Mohammad Omar from Mashkay’s Gujjar area of district Awaran Balochistan.

Sadiq was first arrested on his wedding day but released later. However, the following day he was abducted once again and has not been heard of since.

Sources reported that Pakistani forces have already murdered Sadiq Baloch’s two brothers namely Sajid Baloch and Majid Baloch.

Meanwhile, Pakistani forces abducted another two men named Doctor Farooq s/o Mohammed Hussain and Samadullah from Goburd in Mand area of district Kech Balochistan.

On August 25, 2018, Pakistani forces picked three men from Hoshaab town of Kech district in Balochistan.

The victims have been named as Qambar son of Peer Muhammad and Salum son of Ilahi Bakhsh.

Pakistani forces also reportedly abducted a Baloch shepherd named Khair Bakhsh son of Pindok from Damb village.

In Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district Pakistani forces carried out offensives in Sangseela and Tob Nohkani region and abducted at least 17 whose identity could not be ascertained until filing of this report.
