Balochistan: Four killed during Pakistani military offensive in Harnai

QUETTA: Pakistani forces have attacked the house of a Baloch tribal elder in Nishpa area of district Harnai Balochistan on Monday and killed at least four people including women and children.

According to details, the unprovoked offensive was conducted on the house of Qaisar Khan Chalgari Marri who was a tribal elder and a livestock tender.

Mr Marri, his daughter, daughter-in-law and his 6-year-old granddaughter Naz Bibi were killed in the military’s offensive attack.

Pakistani forces also abducted two men during the offensives who have been named as Mohammad Ali and Gul Dad Marri Baloch.

During the aggression, the Pakistani army and intelligence agencies laid siege to the entire area and blocked all exit and entry points.

The Pakistani media and the ISPR had not reported about this incident until the time of filing this report.

It is pertinent to mention that on Sunday armed assailants abducted four coal miners in the same region. One of them was later released but the whereabouts other three remains unknown.

The miners worked for a private coal company and hailed from Pashtun regions of Balochistan.

In the past when armed men attacked Pakistani forces or coal mines in Mach, Bolan, Shahrag and Harnai regions, the Pakistan forces retaliated by attacking unarmed locals of the region as a form of collective punishment.

It is thought that Monday’s attack was also in retaliation to the abduction and disappearances of the private coal company labourers.
