Balochistan: General Secretary of Ost Welfare Organisation abducted
QUETTA: Abdul Qayyum also known as Wafa Baloch, the General Secretary OST Welfare Organisation has been abducted from Malir region of Karachi on Thursday night (July 9, 2020).
According to details, Abdul Qayyum (Wafa Baloch) son of Ibrahim who originally hails from Asiabad area in district Kech Balochistan, was forcibly abducted from Malir Shah Faisal Colony in Karachi on Thursday night and transferred to an unknown location.
It should be noted that Abdul Qayyum is a social worker who has been working with the OST Welfare Organisation. The organisation strives to raise money, through donations, for the treatment of poor patients and spends it on their treatment.
So far, the organisation has arranged the treatment of hundreds of patients from different parts of Balochistan by financially supporting them.
The Ost Welfare Organisation (OWO) in its twitter and Facebook accounts has confirmed the abduction of its General Secretary Abdul Qayum aka Karachi and said that he has been volunteering in Ost as General Secretary and has shown no political involvement during his services.
The Ost has requested the authorities to made the reasons of his arrest public by formally charging him if he has committed any crime.
“Abdul Qayum, Wafa Baloch, has been paying his selfless and dedicated services to the Organisation day and night. His prolonged absence will affect the lives of many needy patients,” the Ost Welfare Organisation added.
Nasrullah Baloch, the chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, has appealed to the Sindh government, Balochistan government and Federal Minister for Human Rights for the recovery of organization Oost Welfare Organization.
Expressing concern, he said that the government of Balochistan, Sindh government and Federal Minister for Human Rights Shirin Mazari should play their role in the recovery of Abdul Qayyum Baloch.
Meanwhile, the International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP) also expressed its ‘deep concern’ over the continuous abducted of learned Baloch youth by Pakistani state agencies and state-backed criminal groups.
The IVBMP has appealed to international Human Rights organisations and the UNHCR to put pressure on Pakistani judiciary and law enforcement agencies to release the Baloch humanitarian workers and other thousands of enforced disappeared persons.
