Govt claims of development and thirsty Turbat
By Aaliyah Shah
Turbat is one of the populated cities of Kech district and is the divisional headquarter of the Makran division. It is outstandingly afflicting me and compelling me to write the reality about Turbat city.
Turbat which is considered the developed city in Makran Balochistan in terms of good educational institutions, roads employment opportunities and cleanliness in each area.
In reality, It is really surprising that people of Turbat and people from various areas of Turbat are suffering due to the unavailability of water and electricity. It is food for thought that people from a developed city and its many areas are deprived of water.
The electricity is nonexistent for the areas of Turbat such as Shahi Tump, Kahne Pusht, Koshkalat, and many other areas.
Amazingly, the claims of Turbat’s development are one-sided about facilities including express electricity and overseas airport and road having all the best facilities.
Furthermore, It seems that outside the Turbat city is developed but the truth is that inside of Turbat city, there are no perfect roads, no cleanliness, no electricity, no water and one of the most important things internet access is not available.
The entire urban city is deprived of 4G facilities. Shahi Tump is one of the oldest areas of Turbat, a historical place and an example of backwardness.
In Shahi Tump there more than 300 houses that have no clean drinking water at their homes, there is no good electricity for supplying water, all the women and children forced to go outside the city to fetch a bucket of water for drinking.
it’s not a new thing that if the wealthy people have tub wells on their lands they refuse to give water to the poor public because they say, their Tube Wells has only enough water for them and to water their plantations. They claim that if they serve water to the public lands would dry out and their plants will die.
A typical day starts without electricity and ends with no electricity till 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm there is no electricity.
The one who has solar and generator they can survive well but what about others?
Who is responsible for them?
How is Turbat called a developed city when its people do not have the most necessities?
The only development one can see in Turbat city is poverty, joblessness, drug addicts. In the morning people of Shahi Tump wake up and run for searching water and ice. especially in the entire summer, they are completely deprived of water and electricity.
Only having educational building and roads with the sculptures are not enough for the development. The people still suffer despite the government’s claims and China’s huge investment in the name of development under the CPEC project.
In Shahi Tump the local administration is nowhere to be seen and the ‘elected representatives’ do not have tongues in their mouths to speak for the people.
The DC of Turbat and other responsible officials ( If there is any) must take serious action to solve this serious hurdle that people face on a daily basis.
