 Balochistan:  Protest against Shaheena Shaheen’s murder in Turbat

QUETTA: Civil Society member and human rights activists took to streets in Turbat city of Balochistan on Wednesday against the murder of Baloch female journalist Shahina Shaheen.

According to details, a rally was organized by the Turbat Civil Society against the assassination of Shahina Shaheen. The set off from Shaheed Fida Chowk to Turbat Press Club where the participants staged a demonstration.

Shahina Shaheen’s sister, other family members and a large number of citizens participated in the rally to demand justice for the slain journalist’s family.

The rally participants held banners with slogans calling for justice and arrest of the killers including calls to ‘hang the killer of Shaheen’.

At Turbat Press Club Shaheena Shaheen’s younger sister Masooma Rafique addressing the gathering said, ‘even after 4 days, my sister’s killer has not been arrested yet, we are not satisfied with the police action.’

Professor Ghani Parwaz, a veteran human rights activist, said that the killers of Shaheena Shaheen should be arrested immediately and justice should be provided to the family.

The civil society delegation also called on him at the office of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ilyas Kabzai in Turbat and demanded that the killers of Shaheena Shaheen be arrested and justice be served.

 The Deputy Commissioner assured the delegation that the police will arrest the killer as soon as possible.

The 25-year-old anchorperson and art student were shot dead on September 5, in Turbat Balochistan.

Two men, one said be her husband, dropped her at a hospital with critical bullet wounded. The doctor tried to save her life but it was already too late.

The police have started a hunt for the arrest of Mehrab Gichki the husband of Shaheena Shaheen.
