Balochistan: Mass grave containing remains of four persons found in Dera Bugti
QUETTA: The human remains of at least four people were found in a mass grave in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district on Wednesday 31st of March 2021.
According to details, a mass grave containing bones of at least four persons was discovered in the Aas Rayli area in Sui Tehsil of Dera Bugti Balochistan.
A herdsman in the area spotted some human bones and informed the locals, who dug up the remains of four people.
It is to be noted that previously mass graves were discovered at two places in Dera Bugti where the remains of several people including a woman were found.
Also, a mass grave containing over a hundred dead bodies was found in Khuzdar area of Balochistan while in Turbat and Panjgur also mass graves were found.
The Republican News reported citing local sources that the site where the remains of four people were found on Wednesday had been used as a military base by the Pakistan army. The military has recently vacated the site and moved its camp from there.
Despite demands from pro-freedom Baloch political parties and Baloch Human Rights organisation, the international human rights bodies including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the UN Human Rights Council have failed to raise the issue of the discovery of mass grave in Balochistan.
These Human Rights groups have also not been able to send their ‘fact finding’ missing and experts to Balochistan to witness the discovery of mutilated dead bodies of previously abducted Baloch.
Baloch rights groups put the number of disappeared and in-custody killings by the Pakistan army in Balochistan in thousands.
Enforced disappearances and military offensives are still on the rise in Balochistan despite the government’s claims that around a hundred previously abducted Baloch have been released.
Baloch pro-freedom activists are of the view that the remains found from the site of a military camp are that of previously abducted Baloch and they have tortured to death by the Pakistani military.
