 Balochistan: Baloch prisoner dies in Kerman prison due to police torture

DOZZAAP (ZAHEDAN): According to Baloch Activists Campaign, on Tuesday 13 February 2023, a Baloch prisoner died due to police torture in a Kerman prison.

The identity of this Baloch inmate has been ascertained as Parviz Safari son of a Badal from Shirabad, Zahedan.

It is said that Parvez has been in Kerman prison for two years and was assaulted by prison officials on 2nd February.

He was taken to Afzalipur hospital after being beaten and hit with a hard object on the head by the prison authorities and had been in a coma for 9 days.

Mr. Safari died in Kerman prison on 13 February due to a blow to his head and the resulting injuries.

Mr. Safari’s body was handed over to his family on February 21, 2023.

There is no information available about the reason for his arrest and why he was assaulted by the authorities of Kerman prison.

According to Baloch Activists’ Campaign’s annual report 22 Baloch inmates were mistreated and were not in a good condition in Iran’s prisons.

The Campaign reported that it received 11 reports of mistreatment and torture out of which at least two citizens died due to lack of medical attention, one person died under torture and another person’s cause of death could not be ascertained.
