Balochistan: Two Workers Kidnapped During Armed Checkpoint Set Up in Kharan
KHARAN, BALOCHISTAN: A pro-independence resistance group, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), accepted responsibility for detaining two workers of a dam construction project during a road blockade on Sarawan Road in Kharan district, Balochistan, according to a statement released on 3 May 2026.
The BLA spokesperson, Azad Baloch, said its members stopped traffic on the road, searched vehicles, and intercepted a four-member team travelling in a pickup vehicle connected to the Grog Dam project.
Baloch said that all four individuals were initially taken into custody, and the vehicle was seized.
According to the statement, two workers described as labourers from Sindh were later released unharmed, while two others remained in custody for questioning.
The BLA accused the project of serving the interests of the Pakistani military and warned residents and outside workers against participating in exploitative state-backed ‘development schemes’.
