BLA Claims Series of Attacks and Road Blockades Across Balochistan in Early July

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has taken responsibility for a series of attacks on Pakistani security forces and road blockade operations across Balochistan between July 2 and July 9, according to multiple statements issued by the group’s spokesperson, Azad Baloch.

In statements released on July 12, the BLA said its fighters carried out two separate attacks in Kharan District. In the first, the group claimed it attacked a Pakistani security forces checkpoint in the Zareen Jangal area, located between Kharan and Noshki, during the night of July 6.

According to the statement, BLA fighters used rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), light machine guns (LMGs), and other weapons, claiming to have inflicted casualties and material damage on the checkpoint.

In a separate statement, the group claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) checkpoint in Killi Lattar, Kharan, on the evening of July 9. The BLA alleged that two FC personnel were injured during the attack.

On July 11, the BLA claimed responsibility for an ambush against a Pakistani military convoy in the mountainous Tattgar area of Kharan on July 8.

According to the group, Pakistani troops had entered the area to conduct an operation when its fighters launched coordinated attacks from multiple positions. The BLA claimed that six soldiers were killed and seven others wounded during the fighting.

It further claimed that Pakistani forces initially retreated, leaving behind their dead, before returning several hours later with helicopter and drone support to recover the bodies.

A statement released on July 10 said BLA fighters established a temporary checkpoint and conducted identity checks in the Mangochar area of Kalat on July 5.

The group claimed Pakistani forces deployed a surveillance drone over the area, which it said was partially damaged by gunfire from its fighters. It also added that helicopters later arrived but that its personnel withdrew safely without casualties.

In two separate statements issued on July 8, the BLA claimed responsibility for several road-blockade operations. The group said its fighters established checkpoints at Kalat Toll Plaza and Mangochar Cross on July 6, where they stopped vehicles, inspected passengers’ identification documents, and searched vehicles.

According to the BLA, the purpose of these operations was to monitor the movement of Pakistani security forces, detain military personnel and informants, and prevent the exploitation of Baloch natural resources. The group also claimed that local residents cooperated with the operations.

The second July 8 statement concerned an operation in the Qadirabad area of Noshki on June 26. The BLA said its fighters took control of roads in the area, established temporary checkpoints, and inspected traffic until the evening. During the operation, the group claimed it had seized a vehicle that the Pakistani government was using.

In its July 6 statement, the BLA claimed responsibility for an attack carried out on July 2 against a Frontier Corps checkpoint in the Maro Kand area of Mastung. According to the group, its fighters used sniper rifles to target security personnel stationed at the checkpoint at around 6:00 a.m. The BLA said that two FC personnel were killed and one was wounded in the attack.

In each of the statements, BLA spokesperson Azad Baloch reiterated the group’s position that its armed campaign would continue until the establishment of an independent Balochistan and the withdrawal of Pakistani forces from the region.
