BMC Administration Agrees to Students’ Demands After 28-Day Protest

QUETTA: After 28 days and nights of steadfast protest in the harsh cold of Quetta, the students of Bolan Medical College (BMC), led by the Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC), have achieved a significant victory in their fight for justice.

In a statement to the media, the BSAC emphasised that their unwavering stand against the closure of the college and its hostels compelled the authorities to meet their demands, marking a major milestone for student rights.

The turning point came as the protesters prepared to enforce a three-day ultimatum to march toward the Red Zone. This imminent escalation led the college administration to enter negotiations, resulting in an agreement to reopen the college and its hostels. With this resolution, academic activities will resume, restoring students’ fundamental rights to education and accommodation.

The BSAC stated: “This victory is not only a momentous achievement for the students of Bolan Medical College but also a critical milestone in the broader movement against the militarisation of educational institutions in Balochistan.”

The students and the BSAC reiterated their commitment to continue advocating for educational spaces free from fear and suppression, ensuring that every learner has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
