Balochistan: Families of Missing Persons Seek Justice
QUETTA: Families of four individuals who were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces from Dukki and Harnai areas in Balochistan have provided detailed accounts to the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP).
In their plea, they have urged the authorities to bring their loved ones back or present them in court if there are any charges against them.
According to the family of Gul Muhammad Marri, he was detained by security forces on November 20 while returning home from Friday prayers in Harnai city. Since then, his whereabouts remain unknown. Similarly, the families of Imran Marri and Safar Khan Marri reported that the two were taken by security personnel from Dukki on November 30. Both are residents of different neighbourhoods in Harnai.
In another case, Sher Muhammad Marri was taken into custody by Pakistani forces at the Pir Sahib FC checkpoint in Harnai on December 15. His family said that he was illegally detained and has been missing ever since.
The relatives of the four missing individuals have expressed their anguish, stating that they have received no information from the authorities about the detainees. This lack of communication has caused severe mental distress among the families.
Chairman of the VBMP, Nasrullah Baloch, has assured the families that the cases will be submitted to both the government and the commission on missing persons. He further pledged to raise the issue on all relevant forums to ensure the safe recovery of the missing individuals.
Baloch called on the government to clarify the situation, demanding that if there are any charges against Gul Muhammad Marri, Imran Marri, Safar Khan Marri, or Sher Muhammad Marri, they should be presented in court. “If they are innocent, they must be released immediately to end the suffering of their families,” he said.
