QUETTA: Pakistani security forces conducted multiple raids and offensives across various areas of Pasni, in the Gwadar district, during the early hours of February 10. These military operations led to the enforced disappearance of nine Baloch youth, further escalating concerns over the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan.
According to local sources, the individuals taken by the Pakistani forces were young men from different wards of Pasni, forcibly abducted in the dead of night.
The nine disappeared individuals include Maqbool Akram, Saleem Raza, Naseeb Suwali, Fasail Suwali, and Sajid Suwali, all from Ward 6; Ali Baloch from Ward 5; Ahmed Raza from Ward 6; Saleh Riaz from Ward 3; and Zaman, son of Pullan, from Pidrak, currently residing in Ward 1, Kolanch Mohalla.
The ongoing use of enforced disappearances by Pakistani forces is part of a broader strategy to suppress dissent and silence those demanding justice for Balochistan. The raids have instilled widespread anger among the residents of Pasni, further deepening the sense of insecurity that has plagued Balochistan for years.
Human rights groups and activists have consistently condemned these actions as violations of international law, calling for the immediate release of all those forcibly disappeared. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee, a local advocacy group, has strongly denounced the Pakistani military’s actions, demanding the immediate return of all abducted individuals. The committee has also urged global human rights organisations, including the United Nations, to hold the Pakistani state accountable for these ongoing crimes.
