BYC Says Health of Its Jailed Leaders Deteriorating Due to Hunger Strike

SHAAL (QUETTA):The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has confirmed that its top leadership, including Chairperson Dr. Mahrang, along with senior members Shah Ji Sibghatullah, Beebagar Baloch, Beebow Baloch, and Gulzadi Baloch, has entered the fourth consecutive day of a hunger strike inside jail. The hunger strike is in protest against torture, harassment, and unjust treatment by state authorities.

According to a statement issued by the BYC spokesperson, the health of the detained leaders is rapidly deteriorating. The protest was launched after Beebow Baloch was forcibly transferred from Huda Jail in Quetta to Pishin Jail, and following reports of violent assaults by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police personnel on Dr. Mahrang, Beebow Baloch, and Gulzadi Baloch inside prison premises.

“This act of state brutality within the confines of a jail is a clear violation of human rights and a dangerous escalation in the ongoing suppression of Baloch political voices,” said the BYC spokesperson. “What is happening to our leaders in jail today is a horrifying example of oppression, and we as a nation are inscribing this injustice into our collective memory. We will neither forget nor forgive.”

The spokesperson said the Pakistani state was targeting Baloch women leaders with violence and psychological harassment and this is part of a broader campaign of repression. “History has shown us the eventual downfall of fascist regimes. The power being abused today will not last forever,” the statement added.

The BYC vowed that the Baloch nation will seek justice through its collective will and strength, warning that the community will not remain silent in the face of such brutalities.

In a call to action, the Committee urged all Baloch political and social organisations to unite and stand alongside the BYC in resisting state-led violence. “This is the time for solidarity,” the spokesperson said. “We ask every voice of conscience to rise and join us in this critical struggle.”
